Executive Director
Teresa Young, LGSW (256) 355-1908 ext. 10 tyoung@morgancountycac.org
Welcome to our website. My name is Teresa Young and I am the Executive Director of the Morgan County Child Advocacy Center. Please allow me to take a moment and share some of my background with you. I was born and raised here in Morgan County. I attended the University of North Alabama where I majored in Social Work and Psychology. Upon graduating, I began working in Child Protective Services for the Calhoun County Department of Human Resources and later transferred to the Morgan County Department of Human Resources.
Upon completion of my graduate degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama in 1981, I worked with children in foster care and residential placements and then became the child protective service supervisor for the Morgan County Department of Human Resources in 1984. As supervisor, I worked closely with law enforcement officers and the District Attorney concerning child abuse investigations. In 2003, I went to work for the Madison County Department of Human Resources as the Assistant Director of Administration. I retired from State service at the end of 2005 to take on the role of Executive Director for the Child Advocacy Center.
Currently, I also provide counseling to older children and adolescents who have been interviewed here at the CAC and are in need of this service. This program is called Counseling for At-Risk Children and Adolescents and it is funded by a grant from the Children’s Trust Fund.
